Vacancy: Marcomms Manager


Objectives

  • To market and communicate the purpose of MPQC and IQ
  • To market and communicate the products and services provided by the Organisations to a range of stakeholders 
  • To establish and maintain a strong profile for the MPQC and IQ brands amongst the target audiences so that business opportunities may be fully harnessed.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Strategy Development

  • Develop and deliver effective external marketing and communications (marcomms) plans to establish strong brand recognition nationally, across a multi-faceted target audience. 
  • Working with colleagues and relevant stakeholders, agree the strategy, focus, and type of marcomms support required to drive customer growth/engagement and stakeholder advocacy. 
  • Support Organisational divisions and General Managers with Marcom plans for their areas of responsibility, products and services.
  • Provide tactical communications advice to the Organisations and to the General Managers, including on the development and delivery of briefings, events management, and other planned activities.  
  • Create clarity, generate goodwill amongst stakeholders and improve visibility of the organisations’ activities amongst its segmented target audiences.
  • Develop and deliver an effective internal communication plan, ensuring all employees understand the organisation’s values, aims, objectives and strategy and how their role contributes to the overarching vision.  

Operational Activities

  • Promoting membership of MPQC and IQ
  • Support with MPQC and IQ exhibition activities.
  • Management and responsibility for Internal Communications.
  • Engage with sector-specific communication media contacts and other appropriate media titles to ensure regular targeted positive coverage of MPQC IQ and all sub divisions.
  • Take ownership of MPQC and IQ’s social marketing activities, including all aspects of social media engagement, the websites, branding and marketing (including management of the Marcomms Officer for delivery)
  • Identify, schedule, and cost, appropriate methods, and frequency, of external marcomms activities. Ensure planned activities take place within budget and according to objectives. 
  • Establish and implement processes to evaluate the impact of the marcomms plans, review and adapt activity regularly to maximise the effectiveness of these plans. 
  • Establish and develop market research to monitor movement in customer/stakeholder/media perception of the brands and provide quarterly reports to senior management.  

People Management

  • Management and Supervision of the Marcomms Officer on a day to day basis
  • Objective setting and regular 1:1s/appraisals
  • Development of personal develop plan to optimise performance, development and potential succession

Person Specification

Knowledge, Education, Qualifications and Training:

  • Experience of strategic and operational marketing and communications.
  • Likely to be educated to degree level. A marketing qualification is desirable.
  • Proficiency in design, copywriting, and IT generally (including MailChimp, Canva, Office & Outlook)

Essential:

  • Track record in delivering successful marketing and communications strategies.
  • Very strong written communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and presentation skills required.
  • Ability to adapt communication (tone and language) to suit business area.
  • Confident initiating contact, both face to face and on the phone.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Experience of a brand guardian role.
  • Strong creativity in both design and writing.
  • Confidence to deal with people across at all levels of seniority.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the mineral products sector 
  • Experience of having worked in a membership organisation
  • People management experience
