MP Skills, one of the UK’s leading providers of health & safety training for the extractives industry, is listed on the government’s new Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP)

The RoATP, which is managed by the Skills Funding Agency, sets out a list of approved training organisations that firms which are subject to the Apprenticeship Levy can use to deliver apprenticeship programmes. It requires providers to meet a range of standards in areas including quality, capability, compliance, and financial health.

High quality apprenticeship programmes

Trish Jagger, MP Skills’ Commercial Manager, said: “Our inclusion in the register demonstrates the quality of our training and our ability to deliver to the very highest level. We are now in a strong position to help employers utilise their levy payments and to deliver the training that meets their needs.

The RoATP provides employers with a list of top quality training providers and gives them a level of assurance that the organisations they are using have the capacity and capability to deliver high-quality apprenticeship training. We are delighted to be recognised as one of these.”

Training to make best use of Apprenticeship Levy

The Apprenticeship Levy, which was introduced in April 2017, will see UK employers pay a charge of 0.5% of their annual pay bill in excess of £3 million. In return, they will receive electronic vouchers which can be used to provide apprenticeship training for their employees. From May 2017, levied employers have been able to choose a provider from the RoATP, which has been designed to encourage diversity and competition, supporting quality and employer choice.

The aim of the levy is to encourage businesses to invest in training and to meet the Government’s target of three million additional apprentices by 2020.

MP Skills has recently begun delivering apprenticeships for not only levy-paying employers, but also a significant number of SMEs. Visit www.mpskills.co.uk/apprenticeships to find out more.
