Vocational qualifications are designed to give you practical information regarding a certain area of work. They allow you to gain the knowledge you need to start a job, progress your career whilst continuing to study. They are also an effective way of progressing yourself whilst currently in employment, boasting benefits and advantages for not only you, but also your employer.
VQ’s take place on the job, meaning they require a lot of your usual everyday work as evidence towards your qualification, reducing the amount of time you spend off the job.
Many employees favour VQ’s as their preferred way to upskill their employees, as this practical method of learning is usually specific to the individuals’ position. Completing a VQ also means you can continue earning while you learn, in a way that suits your requirements.
The Quarry Regulations and ACOP (1999) states that everyone who works at a quarry must be properly trained and have appropriate experience and knowledge to enable them to do their work safely. Vocational qualifications have the ability to offer experience and knowledge all in one package.
