MPQC Awarding Body would like to welcome our new External Verifiers David Hayward and Gavin Brain
David Hayward
David Hayward is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years experience in engineering, manufacturing and process industries and has spent 8 years developing competency based training and assessment material for a large multinational, which included the training of nearly 200 assessors.
This led to an employee driven NVQ programme resulting in the creation of 5 Centres. During this process David gained his Assessor and Internal Verifier Award and in 2007 gained his External Verifier Award.
Since then he has been undertaking External Verification on a range of qualifications in the process, polymer, power generation and extractive industries.
Gavin Brain
Gavin is an External Verifier & Lead External Verifier for a number of awarding bodies across a range of sectors and qualifications. He specialises in the training and ongoing development of NVQ Assessors, Internal Verifiers and External Verifiers.
Gavin is very familiar with the quarrying & minerals processing sector having previously worked with the awarding body as one of a team of external verifiers for the sector specific NVQs.
Ruth Swaby - Awarding Body Administrator
Ruth Swaby joins MPQC Awarding Body on 14 June 2010.
Ruth has worked for over 20 years as an Administrator / Personal Assistant for a National Training Provider. Ruth is very familiar to NVQ’s and what they involve and has some experience of dealing with the new QCF qualification and Functional Skills. Ruth is welcoming the opportunity to work on the other side of the business by producing qualifications instead of delivering. Ruth can be contacted by email on:

John Pownall will be the Financial Accountant.
John has worked for a number of years as the Financial Accountant for a Nottingham-based organisation which has transitioned a number of ownerships and mergers and is well versed with international operating and reporting structures. John was previously responsible of supervising a small team of six with a UK turnover of £25m and a former trustee of the company pension scheme.
